SEVEN PSYCHOPATHS

 

Oh my dog!  What a movie!

 

Oscar-winning writer and director

Martin McDonagh is unstoppable!

 

This fantastic comedy with it's winning cast, is on it's way to being a huge blockbuster!

 

This  film is wacky, unpredictable and absolutely laugh out loud funny!  If you can get past all the blood and gore, you will have great time watching this.

Marty (Colin Farrell) is struggling with writer's block.  He has visions of eventually finishing his screenplay - "Seven Psychopaths".  He just needs some inspiration to give him that little extra push and boy does he get it (and then some)!

Billy (Sam Rockwell) Marty’s sidekick, is an unemployed actor and dog thief, who will do anything to help his best friend Marty.

Charlie (who was played sooooo well by Woody Harrelson) is a crazy and intense gangster (psychopath in fact!) whose beloved dog was just stolen by Billy and yet another zany character in this refreshingly fun film - Hans. Charlie is extremely violent and will do anything to get his cute and lovable Shi Tzu dog back.

LOVED THIS MOVIE!  A HUGE THUMBS UP!AND PAWS UP TOO!

Fall is in the air.  My favourite season of all time.

And what is not more perfect for a chilly evening than a steaming plate of hot pasta?

 

Franco Gattuso, master of tomato sauce, makes it easy to plan a meal.  This local business has been open for just over a year now and business is booming.  No wonder.  Gattuso puts so much love into his sauces, it shows with each mouth-watering bite.

 

Gattuso uses only the freshest ingredients in his fare with absolutely NO preservatives.  Roma tomatoes and olive oil imported from his home town of Oliveto in the Calabria region of Italy. 

 

The recipe, well that’s a secret.  An old family secret passed down from Gattuso’s granny, hence the name of the sauce “La Salsa della Nonna”.

 

A charming shop with an equally charming owner. 

Go try it, you won’t regret it!

Perfect Pitch

 

Now here’s a movie not pretending to be what it isn’t.

All the previews and all the tell tale trailers, let’s face it, we know it’s going to be predictable.

However, if you’re in the mood for something easy to digest, this is the movie.  A high school singing competition with a moral at the end, what could be better on a Sunday afternoon that that?

I enjoyed this movie.  Theconcept and singing was fun, the movie was humourous and the acting was pretty good.
 

I did however,  find one distraction.  The lead actress Anna Kendrick reminded me of Ben Stiller and it really took away from what little concentration I needed.

 

C'mon, I dare you to tell me this is not true!

 

In all, I thought that this was a perfectly good pick for some light entertainment.

The Hunger Games Trilogy

Now that a few months have passed and we've all had time to digest the first of 3 books in the movie form, I thought I'd add a little book review.

When I first heard about these stories, nothing about them interested me.  Not one bit.  Children fighting to deaths?  No thank you.  But as I heard more and more people of all ages talking about the movie, the book being taught in schools - What??  The hype eventually went into a frenzy, I thought, as a journalist, I really should put my own reserves on the side and take a look.

Well, let me tell you, the moment I started to read the first book, I was hooked.  I could not put it down!  I read and read like a woman on a mission and finished every book within' 2 days.

The story captivates you and pulls you into this fantasy land and makes you take sides and start to root for things you never thought you would. 

Collins has a very unique writing style that throws you into a dreamlike stance until she's finished with you.

Highly recommend.

Easy and fun reading.  Bring it to a local Montreal Park with a mug of coffee for a perfect fall day.
