Guillermo del Toro's thriller "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark" opens this Friday.
Katie Holmes stars in this chilling thriller. It's been a long time since we've seen her in anything so that in itself was pleasant.

The story is of a blended and broken family who moves into a big house in which they plan to "flip". They soon find out that the place
possesses a few strange stories and unusual things begin to happen. Sally, the little girl in the story, uncovers a locked "door". Kinda like "
pandora's box" and that's when the fun begins. While the story is quite pedestrian, I did enjoy seeing newcomer and uprising star,
Bailee Madison's (Sally in the movie) performance. Keep your eye on this young actress. My prediction is that you've not seen the last of her.
The storyline was predictable and there were no "cheap shots" that we have all become accustomed to (and expect) in a thriller. The
scenery was breathtaking and the sets were very elaborate. Not one of the scariest movies I've seen for a while but worth a rental.
